Short-term students
This category is for students aged 16 years and older who want to come to the UK to study for up to six months (or 11 months if they will study an English language course). This route may also be used to come to the UK to resit examinations, retake a module, or undertake a viva if they are a postgraduate student.
There is a separate category – Short-term student (Child) – for applicants under 16 years of age.
Some short-term students will have a visa and others will have a stamp in their passport given on arrival. Extended Short-term students will collect a biometric residence permit soon after they arrive in the UK.
