Workers
There are several different immigration routes for workers. Most of these routes can lead to settlement, and most allow the worker to bring family members to the UK.
In addition to Tiers 1, 2 and 5 of the Points Based System, there are some other schemes for workers:
UK ancestry is for Commonwealth citizens with a British-born grandparent who want to work in the UK. They are granted leave for a period of five years, during which they can undertake any type of employment and be self-employed. They will have an entry clearance sticker in their passport or a biometric residence permit that refers to UK ancestry.
Turkish nationals can apply to be in the UK as self-employed people or as employees under the terms of the Turkish European Community Association Agreement. They will have a visa or biometric residence permit that refers to the Turkish Agreement.
Workers can study, but they must ensure that study does not prevent them undertaking the work for which they have permission to be in the UK.
